Well, it's been a little bit since I've posted so I thought while I had a few minutes here at 1am I would blog. Actually I'm just not tired right now, I can't make myself go to bed. I'm sure I will regret that later haha.
So, lately not too much has been going on. Honestly it's just been eating and sleeping. Except for two nights ago, Sarah didn't want to sleep or eat. Or do anything except cry until 5am. It was a weird night for her, and a sucky one for me (and Chris who had to get up and work the next day).
The girls are doing really well. They are just growing so much! It's so exciting to watch them get bigger and bigger, and their cute little cheeks getting chubbier and chubbier! They are both getting some little fat rolls on their legs and arms, and it is just adorable! Also, they are almost grown out of 'newborn' size and are on the cusp of "0-3 mo". They are just still a bit thin and not quite long enough, but they are getting there. I am excited for that size because I have tons of really cute clothes for them that will finally fit. I am going to do my best to make a video of them and post it tomorrow so you can see how big they are now! On that note we should be getting our pictures in anytime. I am excited to send out the announcements and photos to our families. I want to show off my little ladies :-)
I've been starting to actually go out and about with the both of them. I'm sort of getting cabin fever lately so I try to do things outside of the house. It's interesting having two newborns crying in a store at the same time. haha. Today is their 6 weeks birthday. We went and had lunch at a friend of mine's house and then we went to Babies R Us. I had a few things I needed and a 10% off coupon. I realized at a certain point that I just needed to leave because they were both waking up and they were HUNGRY! The entire ride home they cried, and it was a very sad cry. Olivia has discovered how to really use her lungs when she cries. She wails. She's also discovered a very high pitched scream when she is at her most unhappy. That is how we know she is serious haha.
Sarah seems to be coming out of the whole 'laid back' attitude she had going on for her first 5 weeks. She has no problems making her feelings known these days, and she's not very patient. lol. It used to be that she would just lay there and kind of wait her turn, and if she was unhappy she didn't ALWAYS just cry as loud as she can. However, she too has discovered how to really put her lungs to use and let us know when she is unhappy.
I think part of the reason they seem to be crying more lately, is because they are starting to eat more, and I'm not used to them needing so much food. So I think I'm just not feeding them enough sometimes and to make me aware they just cry and cry. They can eat a full 6 ounces now, and soon they'll be graduating to the 8 ounce bottles (right now they use 5 ounce bottles). It's hard to figure out when I should feed them more because their stomachs will be rock hard, and they'll be spitting up, and still want more food. If I wait a few minutes for them to burp and spit up they can eat more with no problems but sometimes it seems like their stomachs are upset so I shouldn't feed them more. In both instances, they are crying. So, we are figuring that out. It's just part of being a new parent, and figuring out what certain behaviors mean. It takes time.
I feel like they are starting to look more alike as they get older. I think if they had the same shape of head I might actually have a hard time telling them apart. They definitely have the same eyes, mouth, and chin. It's just their face/head shapes are different so they don't look very similar at first glance. Sometimes though, if they both have hats on and are sucking on pacifiers I can't tell them apart. Sarah's complexion is a bit darker than Olivia's though, so there is always that. I wonder if as they get older they will start to look a lot more alike. Wouldn't that be interesting? I can definitely tell their cries apart for the most part, and of course they have different mannerisms and what not. It's just very interesting having twins. I can't wait for them to get older and see how different or similar they become.
Well it's 1:30am so I need to get to bed. Sarah will probably be waking up soon hungry. She still wakes up a couple of times in the night. Olivia on the other hand can easily sleep 6 hours at a time. Which, is very nice :-)

Question
Maybe I'll make this a poll, but we have so few readers maybe you could just comment on the post and let me know how you feel. We have been using Skype with video to chat with my mom (grammysham) and show off the kiddos. She loves it, but the other day when I tried to let my niece in on the action I discovered that Skype can only do video with one other person. So I logged into UStream (an amazing website/service) and set up a video channel for us to use. So here is the question, if I decided to do a weekly (or regular) 'show' where I showed the babies and gave an update, would you be interested in tuning in? The shows are recorded and you could watch them whenever you want, but we could talk to each other via Skype if you were there live and anyone who wanted to could watch the video without having to install anything extra on their computer (like youtube, sort of, but live). What do you think, is there any interest in seeing a wickershamfamily.com tv show?

Rough night
Well, last night really was an adventure in parenting. Sarah was apparently miserable and screamed all night long. She wasn't hungry, she didn't have a dirty diaper, she didn't seem to want to be held, she just seemed to want to cry. It wasn't really so bad hearing her cry, it was that I knew I had to go to work today. Not only that, but I knew I had to get up at 7 and get ave and rosa ready and off to school. Ugh. So here I am at work, no shower and smelling a bit like sour milk and puke. I hope sarah is ok, she was totally sacked out when I left so I imagine she will sleep nicely today. I hope Aimes gets to sleep some; I was awake all night, but she was actually holding Sarah.

UPdizzle
I forgot to post after the girls had their check up--my bad!
First of all, they are perfect :-) No problems, weight gain is very good. Olivia weighs in @ 7 lbs 6 oz (5.6 at birth) and Sarah weighs in @ 6 lbs 12 oz (4.13 at birth). They both grew like half an inch and their heads are growing well also. I didn't get the measurement for their heads though. I did have a few concerns, nothing serious just questions, but the doc assured me all is normal and typical. They did have to get a shot, their second hepatitis, and wow they did NOT appreciate that.
They go back for their 2 month check up where they will have to get some more shots :-( I am happy with this pediatrician though, he is awesome. I really like that he isn't wanting to do tons of immunizations right away. I've read about some doctors giving newborns a bunch of their shots right away, which honestly just isn't necessary.
The girls are doing wonderfully at home. They are eating tons. Seems like they are always hungry.
They are also having a lot more time that they are actually awake and wanting to kind of interact. I'm enjoying that for sure :-)
Well I think I am going to go take a nap for a bit while they babes are sleeping.

Beautiful.
Well. I figured I'd update even though I totally should be asleep right now. I have to get up early to bring the girls to their one month check up tomorrow. I am excited to see how much they weigh now! Especially Olivia, I feel like she's grown SO much.
Well, life is going well. The babies are doing quite well, growing and progressing very nicely. They are both fascinated with their hands lately. They suck on their fingers constantly, Sarah has taken to sucking her thumb when there is no pacifier to suck on. Just today I decided to go ahead and get some of their toys out, and the play mat too. I think they might not quite be there yet haha, but from what I've read it's good for them to just see toys and for me to play 'with' the toys 'with' the girls. Does that make sense? They haven't discovered their feet yet, but from what I read they discover their feet next. That will be cute!
We've gotten a few smiles out of Olivia, but I think it might still be gas smiles or something. It's nothing that we do necessarily it's just randomly you'll see her smile really big. They both can hold their heads up, Olivia especially. She loves to just look around or just look up at us when we are holding her. When she lays downs on her belly she'll hold her head up and look at everything around her. She's very curious. They both continue to show more and more personality. It's becoming very obvious that Sarah is very laid back and go with the flow. She doesn't really cry unless she has a good reason, like being hungry or needing a diaper change or spitting up. Olivia on the other hand screams any time she is unhappy for any reason. If it's not hunger she's usually wanting to be held. She's a little bit spoiled that way I think. I'm working on holding her less just because I don't want her to be a baby that has to always be held. I want her to learn to be OK just laying on the floor playing on her own, and learning to pacify herself sometimes. They are both beginning to become much more alert. For the first like 3.5 weeks they only slept and ate and now they are having more periods where they are awake and we can enjoy them and play with them.
They are getting more used to baths. At first Olivia HATED them, and now she can tolerate them haha. Sarah on the other hand just lets you bathe her and is fine with it. She actually seems like she might enjoy the warm water.
They both love music. Anytime they are upset I'll turn on some classical music (we have a little mobile that plays classical songs) and it always calms them right down. It'll usually put them to sleep too. It's nice having something that can calm them down a bit and will comfort them. Although, when Mommy holds them they almost always calm down right away :-) Which I have to say makes me feel good-hee hee.
I guess that is about it. I really need to go to sleep!
The previous pics I posted were (obviously) from when we took them to Olan Mills for pictures. We are still waiting on prints, right now we just have the CD with all the pics on it. When we get the prints we'll send out some announcements and other pics out to like grandmas and family. I didn't get that many announcements though so probably only like immediate family will get those. Anyway, I'll try to post a video (like the one Chris posted earlier) tomorrow but with both girls. They are both so adorable!!

A video for your enjoyment
Well, I've tried to upload a video to blogger a few times and it keeps failing. I'm not quite sure how to link to picasaweb directly on here, so I'll just put a link until I figure it out. We just got a new video camera and I just got iLife 09 so I thought I'd try and make a quick video. Sarah was asleep when the taping took place, so it's just Olivia for now.
Let me know what you think!

Portraits
Well, we took the girls in to have some professional portraits done. When I got home, I just couldn't resist doing some of my own. We'll see who did the better job when the pro shots come in...either way it's hard to get a bad pic of these beauties :)

Olivia is getting quite the reputation as a 'goofy picture' kid.

So my girls are beautiful!
Not to toot my own horn, but I have beautiful children :-)
We went down to Olan Mills (which oddly enough are primarily in K-Marts all over Phoenix??) today and had the CUTEST pictures taken of the girls. OMG I am so glad I decided to get their pics taken professionally. They have the best backgrounds and great posing ideas and special effects. We opted for this flower background and it turned out just adorable.
When we had the babies the hospital gave us all this stuff, I got like 4 diaper bags full of formula and coupons and stuff. One of the coupons included a free 'new baby' portrait sitting at Olan Mills. There were no strings attached or anything--just free pics. So I decided to go ahead and get those, and then I knew I would probably end up buying more of some different poses and stuff. Which I am sure is what they are hoping for in offering the free pics.
We went kind of crazy, we got over 60 pictures! haha. A great deal though-truly. I got to see all the proofs today and pick out exactly what I wanted but we don't get the actual pictures until the 26th of this month. I am so excited!!
The pictures were seriously adorable. I couldn't believe how cute they came out. The babies were really squirmy though--they kept putting their fingers in their mouths and they kept like sinking down into the bean bag they were on. The photographer was pretty good though, it was obvious she had done lots of baby pics.
We will be sending out lots of pics to our family. We also got the CD with the copy right released and all the pics, so I am going to send some of those to my Dad who does a lot of photography and has this amazing printer that can print out huge copies.
Last night Chris took tons of pictures with his camera too and we got some really good ones. My girls are very photogenic :-)
I can't wait to get them. I got some of those like announcement mailers to send to the family too. I can't wait to send them out to people because they are just adorable. ADORABLE!
On a sadder note, Chris' mom leaves tomorrow morning. What a God-send she has been. I am very thankful she was able to come and stay for as long as she did. The timing really worked out too. Tomorrow life officially goes back to 'normal' with no help. I've got to buck up and take care of 4 children now. Which to be honest will be difficult but doable. We shall see.
Regardless I am completely and utterly in love and I only look forward to what life has to bring.
Blessings to all :-)

Life is beautiful!
My life is truly amazing. I am so thankful--SO THANKFUL.
We are still adjusting to life with two newborns. The nights are especially difficult. We all know how much I love to sleep and that has been a hard thing to come by lately. Imagine that haha. Regardless it's been wonderful. I can't stop staring at their beautiful faces and kissing them and hugging them. I never want to put them down, and they never want to be put down :-) They love to be held by mommy and daddy, and actually even if you aren't holding them but they are laying next to you they are happy.
Neither one of them like to take baths, and Olivia especially hates the diaper change. She swats her arms and snorts and cries and loud as she can. Sarah is more laid back, but when she gets upset you know it. She is a squawker for sure. She just recently started to snort a little bit but only when she's REALLY upset. They are both eating really well. They've just about doubled what they ate while in the hospital. At a good feeding they'll eat like 4 ounces and then they sleep really really well. It's awesome. Because of their low birth weights the doctor has me supplementing with formula after nursing. It's really doing the trick because like I said they are gaining weight quite well. Last week Sarah saw the doc and he said she's doing great. They go back on Feb. 17th I believe for their one month check up and I'll get their weights then. Last week Sarah weighed in a 4lbs 15 oz (she was 4lb 13 when she was born) and measured 19 inches (18.5 at birth) so she is doing very well. Olivia went to the doc the day she got out of the hospital so I am not sure of all her stats. I can tell you she is def heavier and longer. It's shocking how fast they grow.
I'm doing very well. I've lost 31lbs since they were born. Possibly more actually--I haven't weighed in for several days. I go to the doc in a couple of weeks but I'm not having any troubles. I can actually fit into most of my regular clothes (although they are still a bit tight) so I am wearing a few pieces of maternity clothes-jeans mostly. My tummy is jiggly though and I am NOT a fan of that. Once things get to be more normal I am going to start some sort of exercise routine, even if it's just a walk in the evening, to try and work on the belly. I have to comment that the human body is amazing. It's truly amazing what it can do, and rebound from. Every day I look at my perfect little girls and wonder how in the world that kind of perfection came from inside of me. I thought I had seen God before I had these babies, what with everything that my brother has made it through, but wow I had no clue. God is so good.
Well, I need to take advantage of this time I have to sleep. haha.

Just got the girls' (I love typing that) social security cards in the mail. They're sequential : ) Hee hee, that's so neat.

Treat ya with some pics :)
Crazy days
Wow, things just get more and more hectic. I am not looking forward to mom leaving, it will be so hard once I am back at work full time and we have 4 children to take care of! I can only hope it gets easier for Aimee, she is bearing the brunt of the sleepless nights. She is an angel, I'm so lucky she knows what she is doing.
We had some of our good friends call us out of the blue yesterday and let us know they were going to be bringing over a lasagna for dinner - not 5 minutes after we were wondering what in the world we were going to do about food for the night! They showed up a few hours later with their 2 boys and we had a wonderful evening of rambunctious kids and screaming infants. It was awesome. The food was fantastic too, we are definitely getting spoiled with all of the yummy eats lately.
Wish I had the energy to post more, but I have begun to get super busy again above and beyond the kiddos. School started back up last week and I have a book to finish reading tonight and the days back in the office are looming large. Sometime in there I need to get the truck fixed and finish building the workshop/storage unit. Ahhhh!
