Well I feel like SO much has happened with the babies in the last week.
I will try to go in order I suppose.
First of all, Sarah can roll over now! I think I might've blogged about this already??
Secondly, they can BOTH hold their own bottles now, and they seem to really enjoy that.
They aren't very good at it just yet, Sarah pulls and pushes it a lot of times so she ends up dropping it quite often. Olivia is pretty good though, she doesn't move around as much while she eats.
Also, while Olivia still can not 'crawl' she is most definitely a mobile baby now. She has figured out that she can roll to where ever she would like to go. So she's my little rolly poly these days. I'm a bit confused as to why she hasn't picked up the 'scoot' yet because when she is in her crib she totally scoots around. She gets her knees way up underneath her and will turn like half way and use one leg to scoot around. Take her out of the crib though and she's clueless about it. Oh well she'll pick it up in her own time I suppose. I guess I should be happy she's not crawling/scooting yet, the longer the better, I won't go gray as quickly lol.
Lastly poor Olivia had her first trip to the ER this week. She has UTI and is now doing much much better. Still not 100% but she is feeling better than the past few days.
She started out on Sunday with a fever, which I chalked up to teething. Monday she still had a low grade fever, Tuesday came around and it had actually gone down. I had been giving her Tylenol and it was helping. On Wednesday though she got up to 101.7 so I called the doc and they got me in that same day. Took urine and blood, kept her on Tylenol until the results came back. Thursday afternoon we get the results and she has a UTI, doc called in some antibiotics to Walgreens. A few hours later we hadn't yet gotten the medicine but I took her temp and it was 102.7. I called the doc who said we should definitely go to the ER. By the time we got there her temp had spiked to 104! They gave her a big dose of Tylenol to help with the fever right away, then took more urine to verify UTI. They wanted to give her an IV of antibiotics and fluids which would also flush her kidneys. After three tries, and lots and lots of tears, they couldn't get a line. So they gave her a shot of strong antibiotics and sent us home. Friday we went back to the doc for a follow up. He prescribed a different antibiotic because of the strain of bacteria she has. She'll be on this stronger antibiotic for 10 days, then a different one for up to 30 days. In the mean time she has to get an u/s to make sure her kidneys are in the right place etc. She'll also have to have this test where they use a catheter and shoot dye into her bladder and make sure all of the dye comes out the way it should and also that none of it goes up into her kidneys, if it did that would mean she's got reflux. Basically all the testing is just because she's so young still, if she has something wrong with her kidneys and they don't catch it her kidneys could be scarred and severely damaged.
So, that has been our week with the babies! Quite eventful. I'll be OK if we never go back to the ER again:-) A girl can wish can't she? lol.
